American Sign Language/Interpreting (ASL/I) AAS program/certificates develop competency and practice in ASL interpreting and Deaf Culture toward practical careers in a number of interpretive settings: education, public safety, the social services, or health professions. Individuals will develop skills to sign competently, be conversant with Deaf Culture issues, apply the intricacies of translating spoken language into signing, work professionally with ethical integrity, and prepare or work toward various state and national certifications. Skills from basic certification can boost employability for entry-level positions or enhance promotion prospects.
