Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

The National Professional Agricultural Student (PAS) Organization is a student-led body which allows students to build skills and competencies, preparing them for the workplace. Competitive-style learning opportunities at the state and national level prepare students for the varied agriculture industry.

Richland Community College students compete in the fall and spring at Illinois’ state contests. Winners in various divisions then represent Illinois at the national contest.

The Richland Community College student AG Club is a voluntary student organization where students develop friendships through club activities – which include career exploration, community service projects, fundraising and other collegiate activities.

The C2A3’s ASPIRE Student Leadership Program provides students with career preparation through mentorship from industry professionals, hands-on community-based projects, and training in communication and leadership, students connect their classroom learning to real life opportunities. The program also includes participation in national events such as the USDA Outlook Forum, with travel assistance available to help make these experiences possible.

ASPIRE equips students to be ready for the workforce and positioned for leadership from day one.

The Applied Associate of Science or AAS degrees require that students participate in an internship to complete the degree. The director of the agriculture program will connect students to internship opportunities.

Additional internship and summer seasonal positions with local agribusinesses are communicated to all agriculture students. These
opportunities build professional networks and student skill sets.
