Theatre

Written and produced in 1975, Shange’s epic choreopoem, laced with music and dance, follows seven African American women through journeys into their past, the hurts and the triumphs, and in the end come together in an inspiring, soaring, and electrifying performance that changed the way we looked at women on stage, and their stories. Contains adult language.

Show dates are February 19, 20, 26, and 27 at 7:30 p.m. and February 21 and 28 at 3 p.m. in Shilling Auditorium. Ticket prices are $7 to $10. For ticket reservations, call (217) 875-7211, ext. 6888 or e-mail theatre@richland.edu.

Dance

Richland Dance presents The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker will be presented Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 6 at 2:30 p.m. in Shilling Auditorium. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. A "Sugar Plum Tea" will be held at 4:30 after the Sunday Performance as a reception for the cast.

Steph Van Doren: Still Clinging to the Wreckage - October 19 to November 20

Photo: Steph Van DorenSteph Van Doren is an eco-artist from Peoria, Illinois. Using reclaimed materials, her environmentally conscious paintings and sculptures strive to bring awareness to the human impact on our planet and reveal her desire to promote the reduction of our carbon footprints. Artist's reception will be October 28 from 2 to 3 p.m., with lecture to follow from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.
The event is free, and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday, 10am - 3pm, and by request in the CEHFA division office at (217) 875-7200, ext. 386.
