We all bring our own life experiences to our work. We’ve also been shaped by systems that treated some people as “normal” and others as “different.”
In this hands-on session, Cathy Welsh helps educators, future educators, and community workers look at how these systems show up in classrooms, workplaces, and daily life. You’ll look at how who you are affects the way you see, teach, and support others. You’ll also learn practical ways to notice more and respond better.

In this session, you will:
- Learn how systems in society shape what people go through in schools and community settings.
- Think about how your own background affects how you see and treat students, families, and coworkers.
- Look at the difference between what you mean to do and how it lands with others, and why that gap matters.
