Decatur, IL – Nominating petitions for people seeking election to the Richland Community College Board of Trustees are available by appointment or electronically beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Petitions can begin circulation on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The positions on the Board of Trustees which will appear on the ballot in this election are two full six-year terms for seats currently held by Maryann Albers and Vicki Carr. To be eligible to seek election, one must, on the day of his/her election, be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or older, and a resident of the State of Illinois and the Community College District for at least one year immediately preceding his/her election.
The nominating papers may be filed with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees from Tuesday, November 16, 2026, through Monday, November 23, 2026, electronically or by appointment. A Statement of Economic Interest must be filed with the Macon County Clerk’s Office. The receipt provided by the clerk must be filed with the Secretary of the Board no later than Monday, November 23, 2026, by 4:00 p.m.
The election will be conducted Tuesday, April 6, 2027.

Richland Community College is governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees, which oversees the college’s policies, direction, and overall mission. Seven Trustees are elected by registered voters within the Richland District for staggered six-year terms, ensuring community representation and leadership. The eighth member is the Student Trustee, elected for a one-year term by fellow students, providing a direct student voice in college governance.
