Information Technology

Information Technology (IT) is defined as using computers and software to manage information. In some companies, this is referred to as Management Information Services (or MIS) or simply as Information Services (or IS). The information technology department of a large company would be responsible for storing information, protecting information, processing the information, transmitting the information as necessary, and later retrieving information as necessary. Richland offers many different options for students interested in Information Technology.  All IT students receive a common foundation of knowledge, followed by a specific concentration in one of three areas, and a capstone experience that puts into practice the IT knowledge gained throughout the program.
