Richland Community College contracts with the Illinois Department of Corrections to provide occupational, job preparedness, and additional post-secondary courses to offenders housed at several correctional center sites. Thirty-five full-time College faculty and staff provide educational services at Decatur Correctional Center, Lincoln Correctional Center, Logan Correctional Center, Jacksonville Correctional Center, Pittsfield Work Camp, and Pontiac Correctional Center. Adjunct faculty also provide general studies courses on a limited basis.

Richland Community College is located on the northeast edge of Decatur, just off of Brush College Road. The nearest interstate access is I-72. Visitors should take exit 144 (IL 48). Turn south off the exit ramp onto Rt. 48 and then left at Brush College Road. Follow Brush College Road to Rea's Bridge Road. Turn left at Rea's Bridge and left again at the southeast entrance to the campus (College Park). To access the gallery, follow the drive to lot C (on left).

The David Erlanson Art Gallery is located in the center of the Richland Community College campus and is used to display artwork of students, faculty, and professional artists. Each month a new artist is featured and the public is invited to a reception honoring the artist.

Richland Community College, founded in 1971, is a comprehensive community college offering baccalaureate, technical, continuing education, and community service programs.
