Reading Faculty Internship

RCC is seeking to fill a Faculty Internship position with an individual who is currently pursuing or will be pursuing a Masters Degree in Reading, effective Fall 2008. The successful candidate will teach 2 (6 hours) developmental reading courses during the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters and will be mentored by a full-time tenured faculty member during the duration of the internship. The intern will be reimbursed 50% of his/her tuition and fees with a maximum reimbursement of $2,400 per semester. Upon successful completion of the M.A. Degree and mentoring process, the intern will be eligible to be considered for a full-time tenure track faculty position and agree to teach full-time for three years, if a position is offered. Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest in the internship program, a completed Richland Community College employment application, a resume including names and contact information of three references, college transcripts, and proof of admission into a graduate reading program.

This program seeks to recruit prospective faculty members who can bring multi-cultural, ethnic and other diverse experiences to the College and improve our ability as an institution to attract, serve and engage a diverse student body.It is also designed to assist participants in understanding the role of the faculty, instructional design and pedagogy, curriculum development, the community college governance structure and educational policy.

The internship begins Fall 2008.
