Commercial Custodial Instructor - Decatur Correctional Center
This position is responsible for providing instruction, coordinating shop activities, and preparing instructional materials in the Commercial Custodial Program offered to students at the Decatur Correctional Center. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least 2 years of related professional experience; or 5 years of teaching or related professional experience equivalent. Candidate must possess excellent skills in the general custodial field, including general cleaning practices, hard floor care, carpet/upholstery care, and health and safety procedures. Good communication and interpersonal skills required. Drug screening and criminal background check required. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Work hours are 8 am – 4 pm, Monday – Friday. Salary based on qualifications and experience.
Youthful Offender Counselor for Correctional Education Programs
One grant-funded position is available at the Decatur Correctional Center. This full-time position is responsible for providing instruction in career exploration, job readiness, life-skills, and academic remediation to offenders under age 26. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in career counseling or related field and at least 2 years experience as a career counselor or related position. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and record keeping skills required. Drug screening and criminal background check mandatory. Master’s degree, knowledge of re-entry issues for offenders, knowledge of the community college system, instructional experience with adult learners, and experience with Microsoft Office programs preferred. Decatur Correctional Center work hours are 8 am to 4 pm, Monday – Friday. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
