Richland will be closed on Fridays during the summer semester.
Employees are paid on the 15th and the last day of every month or on the last working day preceding a holiday or weekend. The payroll period ends on the 15th and the last day of the month.
Richland Community College offers attractive and competitive health and dental insurance plans. Employee options for health insurance include a Traditional Indemnity plan and a High Deductible/Health Savings Account plan. Most plans include an employee-contribution component for individual coverage and for the family coverage options. The extent of coverage and carriers are determined by the Board of Trustees.
Life insurance equal to twice the employee’s annual salary, to a maximum benefit of $350,000, is provided. The benefit is subject to some eligibility requirements and other parameters of the carrier’s policy. The premiums cost of Life Insurance is paid by the College.
Additional life insurance is available for purchase by the employee for themselves, their spouse, and children.
LTD Insurance is provided for all full-time employees by Richland Community College. Benefits will be in effect 90 calendar days after the disability of the employee and remain in effect until the employee is released to return to work or receives a retirement annuity, whichever occurs first. Benefits will be paid at 66.67% of the employee’s annual salary.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance of an amount up to twice the employee’s annual salary, to a maximum benefit of $350,000, is provided. The benefit is subject to some eligibility requirements and the parameters of the carrier’s policy. The premiums cost of Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance is paid by the College.
This program provides free, confidential, professional counseling to help employees and their family members resolve personal problems which may affect their health, personal well-being, or job performance. Employees and their immediate family members may receive up to six (6) sessions of problem assessment, consultation, and counseling at no cost to them.
All employees participate in the State Universities Retirement System and are governed by the rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Trustees of the State University Retirement System. Employees contribute 8% of their annual salary; employer contribution is dependent upon the plan chosen by the employee.

All full-time employees will contribute .5% of their gross salary towards this benefit that is provided through the State Universities Retirement System. The college will match this amount.
Non-exempt staff will receive ten (10) days vacation for the first year, increasing by one (1) day each year of employment up to a maximum of twenty (20) days. Employees in this classification may accumulate up to forty (40) vacation days during the first ten (10) consecutive years of service. After ten (10) consecutive years of service, classified staff may accumulate up to sixty (60) days. Vacation leave accumulations will be determined as of June 30 of each fiscal year. Twelve (12) sick leave days per fiscal year will be granted to each twelve-month, full-time employee. Sick leave account accumulations will be determined as of June 30 of each fiscal year. Sick leave days may be accumulated but will not be reimbursed at termination or retirement. Sick leave may be used only for personal immediate family illnesses and personal disability. The employee may be required to provide a doctor’s statement to his or her supervisor if the personal or immediate family illness lasts over two (2) days in order to receive sick leave pay and also to be able to return to work.
Each full-time employee will be granted two (2) personal days per fiscal year. Personal leave will only be awarded with the prior approval of the employee’s supervisor. Personal leave days do not accumulate. Unused personal leave days will be added to sick leave time each July 1.
Each employee will be granted up to a five (5) day bereavement leave for the death of a member of the immediate family as defined: parent or stepparent, parent-in-law, sibling, spouse, party to a civil union, any child, son- or daughter-in-law, or someone regularly residing as a member of the household. Each employee will be granted up to a three (3) day bereavement leave for the death of a member’s related brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, and grandchild. Each employee will be granted one (1) day bereavement leave for the death of a member’s related aunt or uncle, first cousin, nephew or niece.
Richland Community College tuition will be waived for credit classes for all full-time employees and their immediate family defined as the employee’s spouse, party to a civil union, and the employee’s unmarried children (23 years of age and under).
Tuition for Richland Community College non-credit classes for full-time employees will be waived if all of the following conditions are met:
Fees associated with the use of the College’s Fitness Center will be waived for all full-time employees. The waiver does not extend to a full-time employee’s immediate family members.
Licensed child care services are provided for the children of Richland Community College students, staff, and faculty. The program accepts children ages 2 (toilet trained) through 12. Additional information about the College’s child care services can be obtained by calling (217) 875-7211, ext. 319.
