Benefits Summary for Full-Time Correctional Education Staff

Payroll

Employees are paid on the 15th and the last day of every month or on the last working day preceding a holiday or weekend. The payroll period ends on the 15th and the last day of the month.

Health/Dental Insurance

Richland Community College contributes 100% toward employees’ health and dental insurance. Dependent coverage is available through a payroll deduction paid 50% by the College and 50% by the employee. There is a required co-payment for the Department of Corrections staff for their medical and/or dental insurance. The co-pay amount is based on the staff member’s annual salary and the type of insurance coverage requested.

Life Insurance

Life Insurance equal to twice the employee’s gross annual salary (rounded to the nearest $1,000 and a maximum of $350,000) is provided and paid by Richland Community College.

Additional Life Insurance

Additional life insurance is available for purchase by the employee for themselves, their spouse, and children.

Long-Term Disability Insurance

LTD Insurance is provided for all full-time employees by Richland Community College. Benefits will be in effect 90 calendar days after the disability of the employee and remain in effect until the employee is released to return to work or receives a retirement annuity, whichever occurs first. Benefits will be paid at 66.67% of the employee’s annual salary.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

The premium cost for AD&D Insurance will be paid by the College. This benefit is based on two (2) time the employee’s annual salary rounded to the next highest $1,000 not to exceed a maximum of $350,000.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

This program provides free, confidential, professional counseling to help employees and their family members resolve personal problems which may affect their health, personal well-being, or job performance. Employees and their immediate family members may receive up to six (6) sessions of problem assessment, consultation, and counseling at no cost to them. Retirement

All employees participate in the State Universities Retirement System and are governed by the rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Trustees of the State University Retirement System. Employees contribute 8% of their annual salary; employer contribution is dependent upon the plan chosen by the employee.

Retirees Insurance

All full-time employees will contribute .5% of their gross salary towards this benefit that is provided through the State Universities Retirement System. The college will match this amount.

Credit Classes College Tuition

College tuition will be waived for credit classes for all full-time employees and their immediate family defined as the employee’s spouse and the employee’s unmarried children (23 years of age and under).

Non-Credit Classes College Tuition

Tuition for non-credit classes for full-time employees will be waived if all of the following conditions are met:

  • The course must be exclusively sponsored by Richland Community College.
  • Enrollment of paid students in the course must be sufficient to cover all costs.
  • Enrollment must not exceed maximum class size.
  • The employee will be required to pay for textbooks, handouts, or supplies associated with the courses which are not included in the course’s tuition.

Fitness Center

Fees associated with the use of the College’s Fitness Center will be waived for all full-time employees. The waiver does not extend to a full-time employee’s immediate family members.

Child Care Services

Licensed child care services are provided for the children of Richland Community College students, staff, and faculty. Additional information about the College’s child care services can be obtained by calling (217) 875-7211, Ext. 319.

These benefits are provided based upon Illinois Department of Corrections provisions.
