Scholarships restricted to students in certain majors
Albert M. Andreas Horticulture Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, awarded to a student pursuing a degree in horticulture or agriculture.
- Student must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours, have a 2.75 GPA, and complete all courses in semester for which funding is provided. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) Agribusiness Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition or books awarded to a student attending Richland and pursuing a degree in Agribusiness
- Recipients may be enrolled full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required. Recipients must complete all courses for the semester in which funding is approved
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) Engineering Technology Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books awarded to those pursuing a degree or certificate in Engineering Technology.
- Recipients may be enrolled full- or –part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required. Recipients must complete all courses for the semester in which funding is provided and reapply prior to each semester.)
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) Information Technology Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition or books awarded to a student attending Richland and pursuing an AAS degree or a certificate in Programmer/Analyst, Network Technology, or Desktop Support Technician.
- Recipients may be enrolled full- or –part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required. Recipients must complete all courses for the semester in which funding is provided and reapply prior to each semester.
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) Physical and Natural Sciences Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books awarded to those pursuing a degree or certificate in Engineering Technology.
- Recipients may be enrolled full- or –part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required. Recipients must complete all courses for the semester in which funding is provided and reapply prior to each semester.)
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) Welding Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition fees, books, and supplies awarded to those pursuing a basic 30 credit hour welding certificate with ASME certification at RCC.
- Must be a high school or GED graduate with a letter of recommendation. May be enrolled full- or part-time with a minimum of six credit hours and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Recipients must complete all courses for the semester in which funding is approved.
Associate in Applied Science Scholarships
- Scholarship for a graduating high school senior who enrolls in an Associate in Applied Science occupational program at Richland Community College the fall semester following high school graduation.
- Must be full-time. Scholarship covers tuition for up to 30 credit hours for one year. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required.
Association of Facilities Engineers Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books for a student in engineering.
- Funds may be used at Richland or when transferring to a four-year college or university. Student must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a four-year degree in engineering, science, or a technology curriculum. Recipients should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0, must have completed at least one semester of study at Richland Community College, and may not have previously received an AFE Chapter 126 Scholarship. Special application deadline: January of each year.
ATHENA Award for Business Scholarship
- Scholarship for books awarded to a recent high school graduate. Preference is given to a female pursuing a business degree.
- Student must be enrolled full-time at Richland Community College with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Scholarship awarded each spring will not be available for the student until the following fall semester. Amount of award determined by available funds.
Barbara Jean Bechtel Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fee or books awarded to a student attending Richland and enrolled in any of the Richland nursing programs.
- Recipients may be enrolled full or part-time. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
Darrell and Ursula Beck Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books to a recent graduate of St. Teresa High School who will be attending Richland Community College. Priority will be given to a student enrolled in electronics, dance, theatre, or speech classes.
- Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours, must maintain a 2.75 GPA, and must complete all courses for semester in which funding is provided. Scholarship may be renewed but requires application and is restricted to Richland Community College. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Wayne J. Birschbach Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, books, or fees to recent high school graduates who are employed by McDonald's and planning to attend Richland Community College or an Illinois public or private university. These scholarships will be awarded to one student at each of the three McDonald's locations - Forsyth, Pershing Road/US Route 51, and Pilot Travel Center at Route 48/I-72.
- Student may be enrolled full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours beginning with the summer or fall semester following graduation. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. In addition, a 100-word essay is required on how the student would benefit from this scholarship. Funds may be used at Richland or when transferring to a four-year college or university.
Gilbert Breighner Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition to a student pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (RN) or a Practical Nursing (PN) or Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate (CNA). Students must be accepted into the Richland Community College Nursing Program or enrolled in the CNA program.
- Students may be enrolled full- or part-time and must maintain a 2.75 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Violet Buchter-Goken Memorial Scholarship
- One year scholarship for tuition, fees, or books.
- For those accepted in the nursing program at RCC; preference given to residents of small towns in Macon County. Students may be enrolled full- or part-time, and should have a 3.0 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Cancer Federation Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books for those majoring in biology, health sciences, or other related fields.
- Must be a full-time student enrolled in 100-level courses with a 2.75 GPA.
Dell and Evelyn Carroll Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition and fees for up to 60 credit hours awarded to students attending Richland Community College who are graduates of Meridian, Macon or Blue Mound High Schools.
- The scholarship covers classes that could lead to the completion of a degree or certificate. Students may be enrolled full or part-time. Recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA to be eligible for the scholarship in subsequent semesters.
Marilyn Casey Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, books, study guides, or expenses directly related to a health-related field. Student may be full- or part-time (minimum of 6 credit hours) enrolled in a health care program that provides direct medical care to individuals.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Student also must plan to practice in Illinois. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need.
CEHFA Scholarship in the Humanities
- Scholarship for tuition, books, or fees.
- Student must be a full-time sophomore majoring in humanities and have completed at least 3 classes in humanities with a final grade of A and a GPA of 3.25 or above.
Dr. David Cooprider Education Scholarship
- Scholarship for one semester of tuition or fees.
- Must be a full-time incoming freshman majoring in education. Recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Award based on funds available.
Marianna Eichenauer Scholarship
- Scholarship awarded to the top nursing student graduating from Richland and continuing on at Millikin University immediately following graduation.
- Scholarship paid directly to Millikin. Student must be enrolled full-time at Millikin for the semester following graduation. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.
William T. Eichenauer Scholarship for Culinary Arts
- Scholarship available to full- or part-time Culinary Arts Students.
- Scholarship provides for the purchase of required supplies and equipment including but not limited to knives, uniforms, and textbooks. Student must maintain a 2.5 GPA.
Elliott Hospitality Management Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books to a hospitality management major.
- May be full- or part-time. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
Dr. Thomas Fulbright Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books available to students majoring in science/research, health sciences, or other related fields.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses and above. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.
Garden Club of Decatur Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition or books.
- Student must be pursuing a degree in horticulture or agribusiness. Student may be enrolled full- or part-time, and should have a 2.75 GPA.
Captain William J. Horve Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, books, or fees to a student majoring in fire science with plans to become a firefighter.
- Students may be enrolled full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above and must maintain a 2.75 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by available funds.
William H. "Bill" Hudson Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition or books to a student enrolled in the HVAC program at Richland Community College.
- Student may be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. Amount of award will be determined by available funds.
Illinois Health Improvement Association Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, books, study guides, or expenses directly related to the health field curricula.
- Student may be full- or part-time enrolled in a health care program that provides direct medical care to individuals. Student must also plan to practice in Illinois. Preference given to students with demonstrated financial need.
John and Lena Klarner Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, and books for eligible Richland Community College students preparing for careers in engineering, mathematics, information technology, computer science, electronics, or any biological or physical science field.
- Eligible students may be enrolled full- or part-time but must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester. Must be enrolled in 100-level or above courses to receive the scholarship. Applicants must be pursuing a degree, must maintain a 2.75 GPA, and must complete all courses for the period in which funding is provided. The number of scholarships will be determined by available endowment income.
Macon County Lady Landowners Scholarship
- Scholarship for books.
- Student must be enrolled full time with a cumulative GPA of 2.50. Award is for a second year student majoring in agriculture or horticulture.
Macon County Medical Society Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books.
- Available for students studying in the medical fields; preference given to those with proven financial need. May be full- or part-time. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Amount of award determined by available endowment income.
James Millikin Estate Health Science Degree Book Scholarship
- Scholarship for health science books available each sememster for full-time students who are residents of Decatur but ineligible for full gift aid as determined by the FAFSA.
- A GPA of 2.5 is required.
James Millikin Estate Special Fund for Nursing Essentials
- One time award for students in the Registered Nursing Program for non-book essentials and other learning supplements.
- Student must be a resident of Decatur, ineligible for full gift aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. A GPA of 2.5 is required.
Chuck and Mary Jo Novak Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition to a Richland Community College student majoring in education.
- Must be a full- or part-time student with a declared major in education. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 out of 4.0 and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above each semester. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Periman Scholarship for Accounting
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books for a student majoring in accounting or business.
- May be full- or part-time student and must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Preference given to students with financial need. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
PrairieLand Kiwanis Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, uniforms, or books awarded to students pursuing a degree in Culinary Arts at Richland.
- May be enrolled full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
Lowell Price Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books to a student in engineering.
- Student must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a degree in engineering, science, or a technology curriculum. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, must have completed at least one semester of study at Richland Community College, and must not have previously received a Price Scholarship. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Restaurant Association Book/Tuition Scholarship
- Scholarship for books or tuition. Designed specifically for students enrolled in hospitality management courses at Richland Community College.
- May be a full- or part-time student, but must have a minimum of 6 credit hours and a GPA of 2.0. Must be enrolled in at least one hospitality management course.
Frank Rolf Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books, awarded to an Ag/horticulture student committed to continuing at the U of I in the College of ACES transfer program.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A GPA of 2.5 is required. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Dr. Joseph and Martha Schrodt Nursing Scholarship
- Tuition scholarship for a student pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (RN) or a Practical Nursing (PN) or Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate (CNA).
- Students must be accepted into the Richland Community College Nursing Program or enrolled in the CNA program. Students may be enrolled full- or part-time and must have a 2.75 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Schwarze Family Nursing Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition available to nursing students. The scholarship is for a student who is already employed by DMH or St. Mary's for at least a year and plans to stay in Decatur and work at either hospital in direct patient care.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Jacqueline Scott Severns Nursing Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees and/or books.
- Applicants must be accepted into the Richland Community College Nursing Program. Student may be enrolled full- or part-time, and must maintain a 2.75 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Decatur Area SHRM Chapter #0555 Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fee or books awarded to a student attending Richland with a Human Resource Specialty.

Travis Stanley Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books. Student must be pursuing a degree in the Engineering Technology Program. Student must also have attended Decatur Public Schools and/or be a resident of Macon County.
- Student must be enrolled full-time with a minimum of 12 credit hours of 100-level courses and above. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is required. Amount of award will be determined by available funds.
State Farm Insurance Teacher Education Scholarship
- Scholarship available to full-time students pursuing a career as a teacher.
- Scholarship provides for the purchase of tuition, fees, books, study guides, or other educational-related expenses. Student must have minimum 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA from high school or GED program, and maintain a cumulative 3.0 college GPA. Please contact the Foundation office for additional requirements to be submitted with scholarship application.
Richland Chapter of SUAA Book Scholarship
- Retirees from Richland Community College, who are members of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) retirement system, established this book scholarship in 2010 to assist current Richland employees who are pursuing a certificate or degree.
- May be full- or part-time. A 2.5 cumulative GPA is required.
Transportation Club of Decatur Scholarship
- Scholarship awarded each year for tuition, fees, or books.
- Must be a full-time student with a 3.0 GPA or better enrolled in a business/accounting curriculum. Scholarship awarded based on need. Recipient may not receive other scholarships or financial aid. Recipients are required to attend the annual Transportation Club meeting in October.
Leona Stanford Vollintine Charitable Trust Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books awarded to full-time students pursuing a program of study leading to a career that promotes and assists the general public welfare.
- This may include, but is not limited to curriculums in education, criminal justice, healthcare, business administration, engineering, and various areas of science-chemistry and physics. Recipients (s) must be a citizen of the United States of America for a minimum of five years, maintain an overall 3.0 GPS, and demonstrate financial need. Eligible students must be enrolled in 100-level or above courses to receive the scholarship.
David P. Wetzel, Sr. Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books specific to students studying in the areas of mathematics, science, or technology.
- Student may be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above is required. Preference will be given to students with financial need.
Eileen A. Wetzel Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books specific to students studying in the areas of social science, education, or child development.
- Student may be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above is required. Preference will be given to students with financial need.
