To apply for any of the scholarships listed on this page, you must submit a completed Richland Scholarship Application
to the Foundation Office, located in room N104
Scholarships available to students of all majors
Alumni Scholarship
- Scholarship for three credit hours tuition for all Richland alumni (certificate holders or degree graduates) interested in returning to RCC.
- This does not apply to Continuing and Professional Education classes. This scholarship is available if two or more years have passed since graduation. If the course is greater than three credit hours, the student must pay the difference and is responsible for all registration and instructional fees. An alumnus who withdraws from a class forfeits the waiver.
Alumni Association Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, awarded to all majors.
- May be full- or part-time. A GPA of 2.75 is required. Amount determined by number of gifts during the Alumni Reunion.
American Legion Post 105 Book Scholarship
- Scholarship for books awarded to veterans recently returning from overseas duty.
- Recipients may be full- or part-time with a cumulative GPA of 2.50.
Boys and Girls Club Scholarship
- Scholarship to be used for tuition, fees, or books for a degree-seeking student.
- Scholarship provided by Mr. and Mrs. George Prust. First preference is given to any current or former member in good standing with the Boys and Girls Club. If no members of the Boys and Girls Club apply, preference will be given to a minority student or a student with financial need. Open to full- or part-time students at Richland Community College with a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100 level courses or above. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Brandon Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books.
- Students may be enrolled full- or part-time but must complete all courses for the semester in which funding is provided. Scholarships to be awarded to students based on need and to those who do not qualify for Federal Pell Grant or Illinois MAP Grant. Students must maintain a 2.75 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Howard E. and Helen R. Brown Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, or books, awarded to a recent graduates of Meridian High School who will be attending Richland Community College.
- Must be a full- or part-time student with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above per semester beginning the fall semester following graduation. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Caterpillar Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition and books, awarded to those who are pursuing any of the engineering technology degrees at Richland.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required. Preference given to former IMO (Industrial Manufacturing Occupations) students, minority and female applicants, and to family members of CAT employees.
College Book Stores of America Scholarship
- Scholarship for books.
- Priority will be given to students who are not eligible for financial aid. Students may be enrolled full- or part-time and must have a 2.5 GPA.
Decatur Area Women's Network Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books, open to all majors.
- May be full- or part-time. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Preference given to women who are reentering the workforce with financial needs due to family obligations.
Decatur Earthmover Credit Union Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition awarded to member or dependent of member of Decatur Earthmover Credit Union.
- Must be a member for at least one year and in good standing. A 2.75 GPA is required. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Employee-Sponsored Book Scholarship
- Scholarship for books, open to all majors.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses and above. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required. Provided by the employees of Richland Community College from the Employee Giving Campaign.
First Presbyterian Book Scholarship
- Scholarship for books; for all majors. Must be a resident of Macon County.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Futures Unlimited Scholarship
- Available to the top student graduating from Futures Unlimited High School.
- Scholarship will provide up to 30 credit hours of tuition for one year following high school graduation. Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours. In addition, recipient must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to continue funding from the fall to spring semester.
Brenda K. Garrett Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees, books or childcare, for a student who completed the Richland Community College GED Program, and is seeking a degree at Richland Community College.
- Scholarships will be presented at the GED graduation ceremony. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income. Applications available in the GED Office.
Glenn Family Scholarship
- Scholarship for full tuition at Richland Community College (no summers). Student must plan to transfer to the Millikin University PACE Program to pursue an accelerated degree in the areas of Accounting (B.S.), Criminal Justice (B.S.), Early Childhood Education (B.S.), Elementary Education (B.S.), Nursing (R.N. to B.S.N.), Organizational Leadership (B.S.) or other future accelerated degree programs.
- Richland student must be 24 years of age or older, have 3 years of work experience, and have earned at least 30 transferable credits at Richland, and plan to transfer to Millikin immediately following graduation. Student must also maintain a GPA of 3.0 while enrolled at Richland. Tuition assistance at Millikin University also will be awarded; up to $2000 per year. Student must be continuously enrolled in one of the accelerated programs offered. Student must continue to maintain a GPA of 3.0. Scholarship does not cover courses outside the accelerated program, books, academic/technology fees, or out-of-district fees.
Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
- Tuition scholarship for two sememsters awarded to senior high school students in Christian County who are residents of the Richland Community College District.
- Students must be enrolled full-time in 100-level courses. Applicants must have a "C" average in high school and maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 5.0 scale or a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Student must also complete all courses started at the beginning of the sememster to remain eligible. Applications are available through the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce and submitted in February of each year.
Dr. Hal Gronlund Book Fund Scholarship
- Scholarship for books and instructional materials; to be awarded annually.
- Preference given to Valedictorian Scholarship recipients. Student must be enrolled full-time, have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Helphinstine Family Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books.
- For all majors. May be enrolled full- or part-time with a 2.5 grade point average or above. Amount of award determined by available endowment income.
Honors Program Scholarship
- For students achieving academic excellence at Richland Community College.
- Eligible Students in the Honors Program may receive a 100% tuition waiver. To apply for this particular scholarship, contact the Honors Program coordinator at the College.
Brian Johnson Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for books awarded to a male minority student.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required.
Klarner Transfer Scholarship
- A portion of the dividends available each year from the Klarner Endowment will be available to Richland Community College graduates transferring to four-year Illinois public universities, with preference given to Klarner Scholars.
- All or a portion of the tuition may be provided to transferring students depending on funds available. This scholarship is for one year and may be renewed upon re-application. Must be accepted as a junior at an Illinois public university and have proven financial need as certified by the Financial Aid Office at the University. Students must be full-time enrolled in an academic program approved for Klarner Scholars, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75.
Livasy Family Scholarship
- One year scholarship for tuition, available for all majors.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Amount of award determined by available endowment income.
Dan Mash Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for books; awarded to a recent graduate of a high school in Richland's district who is actively engaged in serving his or her community.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above for the fall semester following graduation. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
Masonic Macon Lodge #8 Scholarship - Harry L. Kline Fund
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books.
- Students must be recent graduates from a Decatur high school. Applicants must have a "C" average in high school and have shown some service to school and/or community. Students must be enrolled full-time, must maintain a 2.0 grade point each semester, and must complete all courses started at the beginning of the semester to remain eligible.
Military Order of the Purple Heart
- Scholarship for fees and/or books.
- May be enrolled full- or part-time and must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Scholarship is for any Illinois Veterans with DD214 or DD215, regardless of discharge date - preference given to Purple Heart Recipients and disabled veterans.
James Millikin Estate Book Scholarship
- Book scholarships available each semester.
- Designed for students in all areas of study. For full- or part-time students who are residents of Decatur, ineligible for full gift aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. GPA of 2.5 required.
James Millikin Estate Tuition Scholarship
- Tuition scholarships will be available each semester for full-time students who are residents of Decatur, ineligible for full gift aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
- GPA of 2.5 is required.
National City Bank Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition to a Richland Community College student with a 2.75 cumulative GPA or better, and financial need.
- Must be a full-time student enrolled in any degree program and planning to pursue a four-year degree. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
P.E.O. Roundtable Scholarship
- Scholarship for books; awarded to a female living in Macon County, with preference given to those with proven financial need.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
John Rogers Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, awarded to a recent graduate of Clinton, Maroa-Forsyth, Argenta-Oreana or Warrensburg-Latham High Schools.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses or above for the fall semester following graduation. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Marjorie Sangster Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition or books, awarded to a student in upper level theatre, speech or drama classes at Richland.
- Must be full-time. A GPA of 2.75 is required.
Walter and Alice Scherer Scholarship
- Full tuition scholarship for outstanding students who will be attending Richland Community College immediately following graduation from high school.
- Tuition assistance will also be provided for two additional years at an Illinois public four-year university. Students who receive the scholarships will receive full tuition for two years (four semesters, no summers) at Richland Community College, and tuition assistance for two years (four semesters, no summers) at an Illinois public senior institution. Must be enrolled in a minimum of 15 semester hours of 100-level or above courses to receive the scholarship. Applicants must be pursuing a degree and must maintain a 2.75 GPA, and must complete all courses in which they are enrolled each semester. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Curtis and Patricia Sears Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition.
- Student may be enrolled full- or part-time. A minimum of six semester hours is required. Students must complete all courses in semester for which funding is provided, and must maintain a 2.75 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Senator Penny Severns Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees or books for a student pursuing a degree.
- For all majors. Open to full- or part-time students, but a minimum of six credit hours is required. Student must have 2.75 GPA and be enrolled in 100-level or above courses. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Al and Anne Swartz Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, available to all majors.
- May be full- or part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours of 100-level courses. A cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
Tate and Lyle Scholarship
- Scholarship for all tuition, fees and books for a student who is related to a Tate and Lyle employee.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours of 100-level or above courses to receive the scholarship. Open to all majors. Applicants must be pursuing a two-year degree, must maintain a 2.75 GPA, and must complete at least 12 semester hours for each term funding is received. Scholarship amounts will be determined by annual company donations, number of applicants, and the financial need of applicants.
Trustees Scholarship
- Scholarship provides up to two years tuition to current year graduates from high schools in Richland's District who are in the top ten percent of their graduating class (a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.375 on a 5.0 scale.)
- Scholarships provide up to 30 credit hours per year (no summer school). Students must mail a sealed copy of their high school transcript to the Richland Registrar's Office after their seventh semester, with proof of class rank and GPA, and be enrolled at Richland Community College the semester immediately following high school graduation. Students are required to take at least 12 credit hours of 100-level or above courses and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5. Non-public high schools must be registered with and recognized by the State Board of Education and published in the most recent Directory of Illinois Recognized Non-public Schools.
Valedictorian Scholarship
- A book scholarship is added to the Trustees Scholarship (described above) for each high school Valedictorian from Richland Community College's District who enrolls at Richland immediately following graduation from their high school.
- Books are covered for two years as long as a 3.5 grade point average is maintained.
John Wagner / Intermet Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition, fees and books, for a person demonstrating a past working relationship with the former Wagner Castings / Intermet plant in Decatur.
- May be full- or part-time. For all majors. Scholarship to be awarded to former Wagners employees or their descendants. Recipients must have a 2.0 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
George and Lillian Walden Scholarship
- Scholarship for tuition and fees.
- Must be a full-time student pursuing a degree in any field. Scholarship to be awarded based on need. Recipients must maintain a 2.75 GPA. Amount of award will be determined by endowment income.
