Meet the Director

Kimberly L. Brummett is a wife and mother of three beautiful children: Kayleigh, 12; Katharyn, 7 and Kristopher, 1. Both she and her husband were born and raised in Decatur. After graduating from MacArthur, Kimberly attended Eastern Illinois University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and an Illinois Teaching Certificate. She has taught in diverse early childhood classrooms for ten years, greatly enjoying time spent educating young children. One of her strengths as a teacher is reading. Kimberly has attended professional development training in reading instruction and taught literacy groups with children ranging from kindergarten to second grade. This has helped her plan a more effective literacy program for early readers.

Kimberly feels strongly that families are a child’s first teacher and that teachers need to work closely with families to ensure a child’s success in school. She has been involved in providing Family Fun Nights and promoting Parent-Teacher Conferences and parent involvement in the classroom. She looks forward to building a great environment where the children and adults feel comfortable and are able to learn effectively.
