NURS 205 - Medical-Surgical Nursing II - Care of the Chronically Ill Client

Description:NURS 205 focuses on the use of the nursing process and critical thinking to manage adult clients with chronic and increasingly complex alterations in neurological, oncological, immune, hematological, endocrine and musculoskeletal functioning in medical health care delivery systems. Students will function in the roles of healthcare team member, provider of care, and manager of care. Clinical experience will be in oncology, acute phase of chronic illness, home health, hospice care. Students will develop insight about the effects of chronic illness on an aging population as it relates to nursing roles and the health care delivery systems. Oncology and Home Health rotations will be included as an observational experience.

Prerequisite(s):completion of NURS 150, NURS 152, NURS 154, and completion of, or concurrent enrollment in NURS 250, BIOL 220, SOCIO 110, or admission to the LPN Bridge Program
