Description:MUSIC192 will study a survey of the styles and personalities in popular music from the 1950's to the present. Included will be discussions of the concepts and aesthetics of popular music, as well as comparisons of rock styles, genres, and stylistic traits with other musical forms. The development of rock music, its multicultural roots, its connections with the other arts, and interrelationships with the political and economic conditions of its time will be explored.
