The Richland Child Development Center is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and offers part and full time care for children of students and staff in addition to families living in our community. The center is open whenever the college is open including when there are no classes in session to accommodate working parents. The center is closed during days when the college is closed.
Children ages 2 (toilet trained) -12 years old are eligible to attend. Preschool, drop-in, and school-age care are available. School-age (6-12 yrs.) may attend after 3:00.-10:00 p.m. and during the days in the summer. Parents interested in “drop-in” care may call the center for space availability. “Drop-in” care is for children who do not need to attend on a regular basis. All children must have completed registration forms, medical record forms, and pay a $10.00 registration fee. Please call (217) 875-7211, Ext. 319 for more information.

Program Curriculum
Our program uses the “Creative Curriculum” which offers activities based on children’s interests. Children are provided with experiences which encourage problem solving and creative thinking through participating in art, literacy, science, math, and developing fine and large motor skills. Children are encouraged to be independent in addition to working cooperatively with other children.
School Age Children
School-age children (6-12 yrs.) may attend after school and are given the opportunity to complete homework. Art, computer, science, and a variety of games are offered on a daily basis in addition to outdoor activities. Children are provided with experiences based on their own personal interests and have the opportunity to make new friends who attend other schools.
