SAFE ZONE Orientation - Aug. 5, 2-3 p.m.: E179
SAFE ZONE is a program designed to increase the overall campus community’s understanding and awareness of issues faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning (LGBTQ) and other marginalized persons. After completing this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to become a member of the SAFE ZONE program at Richland Community College.
September 2008
Recruiting/Marketing/Event Planning: All the tools you need to have a successful year. - Sept. 8, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
Fundraisers, recruitment and program events all need to be planned well in order to be successful. Come learn essential steps for putting together a successful yearly plan for your student club. These strategies will be suitable from the novice to the experienced.
Lead with Integrity - Sept. 22, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
Is it the end product or the journey to the end that is more important? In a competitive environment to be successful, how does one lead with integrity? This session will discuss these questions and help participants identify their values, what to do when personal values conflict with your organization, and how you can inspire others.
October 2008
Stress Management - Oct. 6, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
Everyone gets stressed, especially when you have a major project, whether it’s because of a big event for your student club or dealing with school projects, but do you really know how to manage that stress? This presentation will provide information about what stress is, how it occurs, and what you can do to manage it.

Group Dynamics - Oct. 20, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
In this workshop, students will learn ways to assess diversity in groups and use differences to the advantage of the team. This workshop will also offer insights into how a group can be more than just the individual members. Students who attend will understand groups better and be more prepared to make the most of group work.

Communication Styles - Feb. 9, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
Master the art of communication in this workshop where you learn how to communicate effectively and positively. Assessing different communication styles will aid you as a lead an organization, serve others, and in your daily interactions.

Marketing Your Leadership Experience - Feb. 23, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
Business and companies are looking for well rounded employees and your leadership involvement can highlight the essential ‘soft skills’ they are looking for in their candidates. Learn how you can revamp your resume or what to highlight in an interview.

Running in High Heels: Tips for Women to Succeed - Mar. 9, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
This workshop examines the attitudes and obstacles that keep many women from reaching the top and provides strategies for women who want to tap their leadership abilities to seize opportunities at school, in the workplace, and beyond.
April 2009
Passing the Torch: Officer Transition - Apr. 6, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
New academic year, new membership, and members graduating. How do you maintain and sustain the growth and development of your student club from semester to semester and from year to year? This session will help groups brainstorm ways to keep organized to save important information and what conversations need to occur between out-going and new leadership.
Treasures of Difference: Cultural Awareness - Apr. 20, 2-3 p.m.: Board Room
The workshop includes an exploration of our human perception and bias, a group exercise using realistic scenarios for the classroom, a discussion of changing population demographics, and a challenge to grow beyond our current place on the cultural continuum.
