Institutional Improvement seeks to coordinate a number of College-wide initiatives, including but not limited to the following:
Strategic Planning—long-term organizational planning.
Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP)—The Higher Learning Commission/North Central Association accreditation program adopted by Richland in 2001. Includes the Vital Three Projects and the Systems Portfolio, due in November 2004.
Continuous Improvement Process (CIP)—team projects to analyze systems and processes at the College. Beginning in Fall 2002, staff and faculty received training in CIP from Dr. Stan Jensen. Since that time, 30 teams have examined systems at the College ranging from Core Values to dual credit to outcomes assessment.
Grant Writing and Other Grant Initiatives—with the Executive Director of the Richland Foundation, efforts are underway to coordinate grant-writing activities at the College.
Research—although the entire College is involved in research efforts, Institutional Improvement helps to coordinate College-wide research activities for reports and other initiatives.
